A Fleet of “F” Words
Having a little fun today with a fleet of random “f” words.
Flowers— like the Goatsbeard fluff in the picture below. Flowers never fail to deliver pops of color in a wide range of hues. They are fragrant and awe-inspiring as I walk by.
Flat— like my chest wall. It was July 2008, seventeen years ago already, that the first surgery to address cancer in my right breast took place. Bilateral mastectomy was the third surgery, in December of that year. My chest terrain may be flat, but my approach to life is not. It is fresh daily, and full of energy.
Faith and fear—my faith has found many names that fit— Higher Power, the Universe, Great Spirit, or She to name a few. Faith is not finite, but rather infinite. Faith is easy to find and feel when I sincerely look, and when I surrender what is out of my control. Fear is also here, both rational and irrational. When faith is present, I find that the fears flitter away, or at least get framed from a healthier, less frightening, perspective.
Face— this face has a few lines and freckles, and it also has a fantastic smile and beautiful blue eyes. That’s a long way from the young woman who could barely look herself in the eye all those years ago. Such freedom in healing and transformation.
Fluff and float and free—back to the Goatsbeard fluff—pieces will float gently away, on Nature’s timeline. There is freedom in just being who and what we are and trying easier. It’s frustrating to be fickle and never land in a moment of true acceptance or presence. I will take the freedom found in living gratefully.
There are many free opportunities ahead in this day, with a fresh start. Fuel your day with full awareness and focus on some gratefulness. It is easy to forget that we are the ones who either free ourselves or imprison ourselves.
My final thought for this post is to thank my fingers for doing the typing for me, for holding the coffee cup, for opening the sliding glass door, for being a factor in so much of what I do. Thank you fingers!
