Emerging
Today, I am grateful for changing seasons and mobility. I treasure walks outdoors along familiar paths. Signs of seasons coming and going make for lively and sensory observations.
Today, I am also grateful for my writing craft and the avocation it truly is. It continues to define and refine my life, as it has for decades.
I share with you two poems and two pictures that help capture what living gratefully means to me in this springtime, poem-writing season.
Poems Arriving
some ideas flit near
and keep flitting away
others float
gently above
and decide
maybe another day
and a few alight
on fingertips
flow from within
-Lisa Valentine-
Emerging
buds, green approaching
originate, springing forth
coming into view
-Lisa Valentine-
Noticing the good and the gifts in daily life, the wonder and awe, takes practice, quiet, and patience. Some days I barely hang on to a sense of presence, too busy thinking and doing and expecting.
On most days though, thanks to the discipline of practice, I capture at least a few tranquil moments, remind myself to pause and breathe, and open myself to what is emerging and budding within me in this new season.
The patience in new green arriving. The persistence of plants pushing through stones. They teach me all I need to know as I head into the day. Onward!
