NOURISH

Nourish is my word for 2026. It was chosen by my friend Laurel. Some of the other words that have been my focus words in recent years include grace, magic, stillness, acceptance, play, and peace. Any day, or moment, I can carry even one of these words in my heart and actions is a good day, a good moment. Thanks Laurel!

I sit here in the early morning quiet, feeling inner turmoil—the kind that leads to growth spurts. I am nourishing myself through physical and emotional pain. Lower back pain is slowly resolving after I pulled a muscle last week. Tapping into my emotions reveals grief and joy, fear and excitement. Revealing vulnerability, which is where the good stuff truly unfolds. I am able to nourish myself, with the help of family, friends, and a loving and patient Higher Power.

I sit here in the early morning quiet, feeling outer turmoil too. There is much in my state, country, region, and this world that causes feelings of despair, fear, discouragement, and anger. There is much I can’t comprehend and I feel incapable of impacting in a good way.

Yet, I can carry N.O.U.R.I.S.H. with me as I interact with others, do my job, have conversations, share meals, drive down the road, walk our dog, talk with my husband, pass by others in hallways.

NOURISH

Nestle hearts.

Outpour gratefulness.

Unleash beauty.

Revive dreams.

Inspire growth.

Share love.

Hold peace.

I have taken one word and made it fifteen different words. Each word sparks awareness and encourages action. Awareness and action to nourish myself and others today. Thanks again Laurel!

The backdrop is the sun rising over a lake near where I live.
