Oprah x 2, Coincidence, Perspective

I started making a mental note, and also jotting down, a gratitude list the other day. Then, this morning as I sat down to write this, two websites I regularly connect with both had quotes from Oprah Winfrey, a fitting coincidence that brought me a sense of faith in the Universe.

Her first quote, the Word for the Day yesterday (I am catching up)on gratefulness.org was:

“The smallest change in perspective can transform a life.”

The second was on Insight Timer, where random quotes pop up when I open the app for my meditation time. I thought I had texted it to myself, but when I went to retrieve it, it was gone. It was along the lines of “the more we find to appreciate in our lives, the more we have.” (Sorry for the paraphrase Oprah.)

I wholeheartedly agree with both thoughts that Oprah shared. They play out in my life regularly when I live gratefully, let go, choose right actions, and stay the heck out of my own way.

So, back to that gratitude list and a couple of pictures. If any of this gives you pause or a slight shift in your own perspective, then we have made a connection and multiplied not only gratefulness, but compassion as well. Onward!

*Cardinal and mourning dove songs

*A baby bunny butt running off to safety, not knowing it has nothing to fear from us

*Walking side by side with my husband on our morning walk, matching strides, in sync in many ways

*The mixed smells of summer . . . air, water, blossoms, grass

*Birds sing for us and near us, and even though I wish I could, it doesn’t matter if I can name them

*The play of sunlight through the trees and across the landscape, ever-changing

*Familiar streets and trails, and then the freshness of never-before streets and trails

*Conversation and commentary on life, our jobs, family, the future

*Cleaning around the house, visible progress easy to gauge and a good motivator

*Our pandemic stock-up of certain cleaning items almost gone, and overall a very different feeling than two years ago

*The profound simplicity, and also deep wisdom, of experiences and hope shared by others in addiction recovery.
