Roads Renew
Today I am grateful for safe travels, beautiful countryside, time with family, and the new experiences my husband Darcy and I enjoyed together on our recent road trip. We were gone for nine days, traveled nearly 2,900 miles, and spent time in eleven different states. Our main destination was the state of New Mexico, which neither of us had ever visited. I appreciate that Darcy did a bulk of the driving. I watched the changing terrain as we headed west. When we got to the high plains and mountains, not only were they stunning to see, they were very different than our home turf.
We knew we were away, and that was important. It was great to take a trip and feel less restrained in our comings and goings than we have for the last two years. It was also important to be away from home, our jobs, the usual to-do list. So it was especially fitting on Sunday, March 20 as we left Kansas in the early morning, that the Wordle for the day looked like this for me:
The roads did renew. Time with family, some who we hadn’t seen since before the pandemic, was also a highlight of our trip. We are fortunate to have the means to travel, and to live in a country where it is safe to do so. Day to day, as we made our way from destination to destination, my heart and soul were refreshed by it all. Some of my spring breaks from school are about staying as close to home as I can. This one was the opposite and just what I needed. Roads renew.
