Transfer, Transmit, Transform

Some of the various definitions of the three words in today’s title include: to send or convey from one person, or thing, to another; to cause to pass from one to another; to change in character or condition.

Last week, I wrote about the hellos and good energy between humans that were being transmitted, transforming disconnection to connection, sending hopeful ripples out.

This week, it is the energy of the natural world that is transferring awe to my soul, transmitting energy to me as another living organism sharing the planet, transforming my outlook to reflect gratefulness and tranquility. Even if just for a few minutes, a good dose of tranquil gratitude goes a long way to shape my attitude and interactions in the hours ahead.

Trees are majestic and mysterious and even magical in the fall when their leaves change colors. To walk among the reds, yellows and oranges is a treat and my favorite thing about fall. A feast for my eyes, but also my nose as I take in distinct smells in the crisp air, and my ears as the leaves that have already fallen rustle beneath my feet. A sensory buffet.

Think about the transfer of energy that a leaf-bearing tree experiences in a growing season, transmitting sunlight and water, transforming from spring, to summer, to fall, to dormancy. Wow! What a show!

Nature is such a good teacher. Patient and confident in what it has to transfer and transmit to anyone who breathes it in. Let nature transform you for at least a few minutes today. Onward!

A colorful show, all within a few blocks of our home.
