Coming and Going

These are my footprints, left by one of my many pairs of Brooks running shoes. I was out for a walk on the morning of New Year’s Eve after a minor snowfall. It was significant enough though to provide these stride marks. I did a little out and back walk, and caught myself coming and going, in a peaceful way.

I was walking and reflecting on the year just winding down. It brought many blessings and continued opportunities, for myself and family and friends. A list wouldn’t do it justice. The words suffice-blessings and opportunities. It wasn’t all a cake walk, but it was still a good walk through the days and months of 2023.

There was plenty going on. The stuff of life—invited and uninvited. I can sincerely say I have made progress in going through just one 24-hour segment at a time.

I continued walking, considering the new year ahead, and what would and could be coming with it. Some known, much unknown. I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Staying right here, right now is a safer, more sane and sound way to travel.

The year 2024 offers us each a good reminder—24 hours in a day. That’s all we need and all we get.

One step at a time. One stride at a time. I met myself coming and going, not in a hurried way, but a friendly and reflective way. Goodbye 2023. Hello 2024. Greetings for the day ahead!
