Delights

The theme for this month’s Rivertown Gratefulness Gathering is “Delight.” What a wonderful word! Consider joining us this Wednesday evening to delve into this idea of delight. Details here. This week’s blog posts will be centered on delight as well.

Delight is defined as a cause or source of great pleasure. I would add that great can also be simple.

So here are some of the delights that I enjoyed in recent days:

*A cool breeze in my face on a run. It hit me just when I needed it, as I rounded a corner.

*A finch of two distinct colors. This one was yellow and black.

*Laughter, deep honesty and shared wisdom among recovery friends. My faith deepens when I sit among such grace.

*The simple significance and pause available in the words “Be still . . . “

*My Outdoor Research/Gore-Tex jacket with side vents that is just what I need on a rainy morning.

*A handwritten note and card from my son for Mother’s Day.

*The blooms and blossoms and emerging glory of plants and flowers in Spring.

The rich blend of colors is Nature’s artistry at her best. When I started looking for delights, it didn’t take long to find them. Moments, hours, and days are made richer by my finds. Grateful living practices sharpen my gaze and help me hone in on delights of all kinds.

My list of delights will grow and I will have more to write about in my next post.

Sharpen your gaze. Hone in on some delights today. You may even wish to write them down or capture them in a photo or a poem. Delight awaits.
