Go With the Flow of Magic and Grace

The final days of May are already here. May is so often a hectic month for me at work, and this year is no exception. I have maintained a healthier perspective than I sometimes do though, and I am grateful for that. The ebb and flow of school years are so embedded in my life experience, and I am able to go with the flow more readily. Living gratefully helps generate the energy that sustains me, even when I feel tapped out.

In this monthly reflection on my words for the year—MAGIC and GRACE, (Thanks again Laurel!) I am full of appreciation for the splendor of spring and for the privilege of another day to suit up and show up.

And for these random happenings:

*A flat tire that was timed when I had nowhere I had to be, and for all those AAA annual dues that pay off at times like that.

*The simple task of sweeping a floor and seeing the progress and results.

*The magic and grace in a small smile from my mom.

*The grace in finding what was in front of me all along—a zippered pocket I had never noticed before in a suitcase we have had for many years and removable legs on a dish rack that I also had not noticed. There is grace in “duh!”

There is profound grace in being alive and healthy sixteen years out from a breast cancer diagnosis. All any of us get is today—this one precious and fragile life to live, to love, to embrace fully.

And there is magic in the splendor of spring. With a mild winter and a wet spring, we have been treated to an extra grand show this year. I took these pictures last evening, each beautiful blooming flower just a few steps from one another in our backyard. One blossom flowing into another. One late evening sunbeam flowing into another. One moment flowing into another. Magic and grace. Go with the flow today.
