Gratitude Flowing

This is today’s fresh pot of coffee brewing on our kitchen counter. I took cold, clean water from our refrigerator to fill the reservoir. I filled the water pitcher full again a few feet away at our kitchen sink, one of several faucets in the house. I grabbed a filter and today’s coffee choice from the cupboard, both of which I bought at a local store after driving there and using one of the several payment options I have available to me. I considered the people who grew and harvested the coffee too.

I listened to the brew cycle and smelled the aroma. I put away a few clean dishes and listened to a short meditation track on my phone while the coffee brewed. When it was ready, I poured some almond milk in one of my favorite cups and then filled it with the fresh coffee.

Quietly, so as not to wake the rest of the family, I made my way to our front patio. There is a delectable touch of coolness on my skin, even though we are in the midst of a hot and humid stretch. I turned the fountain on and am listening to the soothing sound, along with a variety of birdsong.

Sipping my coffee, composing a few words at a time, this post is done. I am content, calm, focused. The focus? That will probably get lost. The gratitude? That will keep flowing. Have a good day!
